Lawn Care

I have personally tried to use organic treatments for my lawn but I was always skeptical and because of certain circumstances (sometimes cost and sometimes desperation) never was really committed to doing it right. In a previous post I pointed to an organic lawn care guide on the ExtremelyGreen.com web site. They mention as one of the first steps in maintaining an organic lawn is to perform regular soil tests. These test can be done at anytime during the growing season and it will tell you the acidity, amount of nutrients, amount of organic matter and more.

We recommend this as a starting point. Typically the test indicates the acidity (pH), the presence of main nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium), micronutrients, and organic matter. It'll point out any important deficiences, which you can then take steps to correct.

The testing kits can be purchased from their online store.
